# Tumbler Techniques ## About the Project.. Everyone in the world recognizes the "Lock", a bold and stern object that regulates access to certain items and/or areas. As much as it is a universal symbol for security, most people take this for granted and consider things secure. We'll be learning exactly how secure it really is, or lack there of. Like anything else in the world, if you want to know how to really make things secure, you must know how to break it first. This will be multiple labs each with different styles of locks and how they operate. Each type of lock will be introduced in different lab days. #### Types of Locks that we will be dealing with are.. * Cylinder Locks * Key Fob locks (IR Style and RF 418, 433, 868, 418, and 433.92MHz) * RFID triggered Locks * Hotel Card access Locks * Tubular Locks * Pin and Tumbler Locks ## Project Lead Joedirt and/or Yanqui ## Participants Everyone I would hope! :D ## Equipment **On Hand** . 4 x pin and tumbler locks * 1 x Hotel card read/writer * 2 x Hotel card access locks * 1 x knock/bump key hammer * 4 x knock/bump keys * 2 x 17 piece lock manipulation kits (in process of making them) * 4 x Cylinder locks * 2 x Pad locks **Still Need** *If you have a lead on any of these please let us know! * *Extra's of any that are already on hand are always welcome. * * 4 x Tubular Locks * 1 x RFID Triggered Lock * 1-2 x Key Fob Locks + associated Fobs ## Reference Material How to Pick a Lock - Good refence for tumbler style locks, and basic pick/rake and tensioner useage. . http://www.wikihow.com/Pick-a-Lock Electric Strikes and Magnetic Locks - A large shopping list of styles of locks including a brief but clear description of how the general technology works.
